Some even use various carved pumpkins as gifts to others and some use the scary pumpkins to scare people who refuse to give any kind of gifts or offerings. On this day, people especially young children wander from door to door and ask for food, clothes and other offerings.
Carving pumpkin is an art that each one of us can perform. You need not be an artist or skilled craftsman to carve a pumpkin. You can carve any desired pattern on the selected pumpkins. These days many people are using Halloween pumpkin stencils to carve artistic pumpkins. These stencils can ease your work and help you in making imaginative and unique art pieces.
Halloween pumpkin stencils can be prepared free hand or using images and graphics from your computer. You can select any desired image from your computer such as scary ghosts, Disney, angel’s face and various similar images. Take a print out of the desired image and then trim off the unwanted area of the image. Now, your Halloween stencil is ready to be used for carving pumpkins.
Prepare the pumpkin by cutting out the top hole and scoop out the pulp. Take your paper stencil and attach the stencil to the pumpkin using an adhesive or tape. If you tape the stencil, then you may have to crease the stencil at the corners. Try to make creases where your image will be less distorted.
Then, take the transfer tool and press the pointed tip into the pumpkin, through the outlines of your stencil. The tip of the tool should be pushed through the stencil and outer skin of your pumpkin. After you have transferred all lines to the pumpkin, gently remove the stencil and carve the transferred pattern using a carving saw or any other carving tool. This will create an artistic pumpkin.
