Pumpkin carving is the popular Halloween craft and is said to be the symbol of this festival.
Preparing jack-o-lantern and pumpkin candles are very common form of pumpkin carving during the festival. But everyone requires change in life. People get bore with one particular thing. So, why not try something interesting and funny this Halloween?
Let’s learn to make beautiful faces on pumpkins. Any face requires detailed structures like eyes, nose and mouth to be carved. You can either create these using free hand art or prepare a face pumpkin stencil.
It’s really easy, cost-effective and time saving to prepare face pumpkin stencils. You can select various faces such as angel’s face, clown’s face, ghost’s face or any other kind of face you like from the images stored in your PC.
After selecting the desired face image, open the image in Photoshop program.
Go to ‘Image>Adjustments>De-saturate’ and de-saturate your image.
Again go to ‘Image’ and select ‘Adjustments > Brightness / Contrast’.
Take the brightness to 60% and contrast to 100%. Using pencil tool darken the areas of the image that you don’t want. For example, if you have taken an image of a clown and you only want his face, color the clown’s body and the left over areas with black.
Take care while coloring the areas around the eyes, nose and mouth. Now, select the face and crop your image. Take a print out of the cropped area and finally trim off the undesired areas.
Your custom made face pumpkin stencil is now ready. Similarly, you can prepare different stencils to carve different faces on your pumpkin. Before selecting any face, keep in mind the size of your pumpkin.
